|Miguel tells his story|
|Ms. Barker helped alot. She knew the ins and outs of everything and told me where to go. We had to do a lot. You have to put effort into it. You’re not going to get anything back if you don’t something into it. But she told us which direction to go and what to fill out. She would do their end really, really well. I never, ever had a problem financial with the school funding because Financial Aid. They helped me and made sure I had enough financial aid to pay for the next semester. They made sure I got the loans that I needed and the Pell grants I got. I wouldn’t have known where to start. They showed me the way – where to start looking and what to look for.
WATC Career Services office offers placement assistance to graduates in their field of study. With the help of Miguel’s instructor and the Career Services office, he built a great resume and researched several companies in the Wichita area. With guidance from the Career Services office, Miguel used his contacts to build a professional network. Shortly after graduation a member of his network, recommended him as a strong candidate to the Professional Engineering Consultants, which landed him a interview. The interview resulted in Miguel landing a job as a Draftsman. Miguel is very satisfied with his job and plans to return to school in 2010 to pursue his Bachelors degree.
