Just finished <The Other Boleyn Sister> and <The Boleyn Inheritance>. Wow, PhD-written novels that are captivating!! Phillipa Gregory transported me back in time and I didn’t want to come back out. I was glad smellovision wasn’t part of it–Henry’s leg and other flatulence-inspired dialogue was enough of that. PG’s ability to have a character maintain in-character throughout without feeling forced, attested to her writer’s talent. Her intense research into the characters’ known personalities and her strict adherence to an accurate timeline, fashion and lifestyle charmed this librarian and lover of history. I’ve visited those palaces, and especially, The Tower many times, so for me, it was a trip back to England. Got to get her other books for another quick trip. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.
