WICHITA, Kan. — While state university students may see as high as a 5-7% tuition increase, Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) has kept its tuition low.
With one of the most affordable tuition rates in Kansas, WATC’s general education courses are just $92 per credit hour and have been for three years without any increases.
WATC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (ncahlc.org) and is a Kansas Board of Regents Institution. Credits earned at WATC cost less and many are easily transferred. Courses like American Government, General Psychology, Biology, Microeconomics and more are guaranteed to transfer to other Kansas public colleges and universities. For more information, click here.
Nealy 40 general education courses are offered at WATC that are guaranteed to transfer. Because some students often save as much as 70% on tuition compared to a four-year university, WATC is a great place to earn transferable college credits.
“I’m not buying into the name, I’m buying into the education,” said Justin Burress.
Current high school students can get a jumpstart on college with a special tuition rate. Classes like English Composition, College Algebra, Public Speaking, Anatomy and Physiology and more are offered to high school students for just $65 per credit hour and are transferable. Click here for details.
In addition to its lower cost, WATC offers a more individualized approach with smaller class sizes. The average class size is just 19 students.
“It’s a little bit smaller, but the teachers interact with you more one on one,” said WATC student Drea Noble, who wants to be an engineer.
Classes are conveniently offered on campus, online or via a hybrid approach to meet each students’ needs and schedule.
As the largest technical college in Kansas, WATC offers more than 75 programs of study in Aviation, Manufacturing, Design, Healthcare and Business with an average placement success rate of 92%.
Whether planning to move on to a university or establish a high-wage career, WATC students graduate with less debt and more career and transfer options.
