WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) was named the Winner for Best Technical / Trade School for the Wichita Eagle Reader’s Choice Contest.
Each year, Wichita Eagle and Kansas.com readers vote for their favorites in the “Best of Wichita” contest.
Last year, more than 8,000 voters chose their favorite places to spend time working, eating, drinking, shopping, running, playing and more.
WATC was founded in 1965 and has more than 75 programs of study at three Wichita campuses. Programs are offered in Aviation, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Business, Design, Police Science and General Education.
Three levels of degree and certificate programs are offered at WATC; Associate of Applied Science, Technical Certificate and a Certificate of Completion.
For non-degree seeking students, WATC offers general education courses like English, Algebra, History, Science and more. WATC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a Kansas Board of Regents institution so credits earned are easily transferred to other two- and four-year colleges.
The Employer Services Division of WATC also provides non-credit customized workforce training solutions.
The National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) serves as WATC’s main campus. The 220,00 top-notch facility offers state-of-the-art training equipment and opportunities. It also functions as a multipurpose venue for community events, including meetings, concerts, legislative forums and large conferences.
Committed to student success, WATC also provides free tutoring and career services to students and graduates. Its 97% placement success rate is evidence of their ability to equip students with the skills and training necessary to land a job.
Current High School Juniors and Seniors can receive FREE TUITION at WATC for Senate Bill 155 eligible courses. This includes welding, interior design, criminal justice, machining, nursing and more.
