Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) takes pride in their 97% placement success rate, which has been accomplished because of their commitment to the future of their students. This week, WATC held two career fairs to give their students a chance to meet with employers and gain interview experience, industry contacts and ultimately, employment.

Monday, April 15, a career fair for Business and Health Sciences was held at WATC’s Southside Campus. Employers in attendance included Asbury Park, KETCH, Via Christi Health, The Arnold Group and more. The next day at WATC’s main campus, the National Center for Aviation, Spirit Aerosystems, The Coleman Company, Inc., Triumph Aerospace and other employers were present for the Aviation and Manufacturing career fair.

La Rae Santiago, WATC Director of Career and Disability Services helped to coordinate the career fairs and encourage students and alumni to attend. To support participants, they received tips on how to talk to a job fair recruiter such as make eye contact, smile, say “hello” and offer your handshake with your introduction.

In addition to these career fairs, WATC contributes to the success of its students by sending weekly “Job Flash” notifications of open positions in the area. WATC’s Career Services Department assists students in career planning, academic major choices, employment search¬†strategies and graduate or professional school aspirations.
