WATC Achieves Record Fall Enrollment

Fall enrollment growth at Wichita Area Technical College is on a record-setting pace, with credit hours as of Sept. 29, 2011 exceeding the College’s previous record set in the Fall of 2009. Additionally, a Kansas Board of Regents preliminary report for Fall 2011 shows WATC enrollment increasing 5.2% from Fall 2010. WATC’s growth outpaced the KBOR statewide average of 0.5%.

WATC is the largest state-supported technical college in Kansas. With KBOR reporting 2,136 students at WATC as of Sept. 29, the school comprises 40% of all students enrolled in KBOR’s six technical colleges.

WATC offers a high-tech, high-wage, high-demand career pipeline for students who choose from associate of applied science (AAS) degrees, technical certificates and certificates of completion, and general education coursework. Credit hours are priced at half the cost of some other institutions and many will transfer to a four-year university. WATC offers more than 70 fields of study including aviationbusinesshealth scienceadvanced manufacturing and skilled trades. It features the top-ranked aviation program in the nation at its National Center for Aviation Training. The College was selected to design the National Association of Manufacturing’s Aviation Certificate System.

As a public college, WATC is supported by the State of Kansas through the Kansas Board of Regents and Sedgwick County. The College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.

The College partners with business, industry and organizations across Kansas to provide customized training in programs including Six Sigma, leadership, aviation, manufacturing, environmental health and safety, private security and workforce readiness.

WATC operates three locations including its main campus at the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) located at 4004 N. Webb Road. Its Southside Education Center campus is at 4501 E. 47th Street South. The Grove campus is at 301 S. Grove.
