Nondestructive Testing Student Recommends WATC

by amcfayden on June 7, 2011

Michael S Chomin, a former Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) graduate, wrote a letter to the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters in Washington DC regarding the NDE program that is offered at WATC. His letter was published in the United Association Training Department newsletter, February 2011.

In Michael’s quest to further his experience and education, and complete the degree requirements for an AAS degree in NDE from Wichita Area Technical College, he found several reasons why others in the industry should consider attending school at WATC. Michael states:

First the school offers NDE training which adheres to the recommend curriculum as proposed by the ASNT and uses ASNT training materials for class and has all
new Olympus, Magnaflux and Lorain X-ray test equipment.

Secondly, the NDE classes are each one (1) week long as is done by other commercial schools so that training for each course is completed in a weeks’ time rather than extending over a semester’s time.

Thirdly, a student earns college credits for each class that they take and can opt to receive either a Certificate of Completion, Technical Certificate, or an Associates of Applied Science, depending how far they want to further their education.

Finally the courses are offered at a very affordable price.
