Based on demand from local aviation and manufacturing companies, the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas is providing scholarships for low-income, low-skilled or laid-off individuals to attend Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Training through Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) at the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT).
The CNC training is a condensed program that begins June 6, 2011 and runs through August 12, 2011. This ten week program was put together by a consortium of local employers through the PACES Project and will cover the basic skills required to be employed as a CNC Machinist. All graduates of the program will receive a CNC Mills Certificate of Completion and 16 credit hours at WATC. Scholarships will cover the entire cost of the training, including tuition, books and fees.
Twenty qualified participants will be selected to receive a scholarship, which are available on a first come, first served basis to those who meet program eligibility requirements. Individuals must qualify through the Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas, including passing a math placement test to enroll in Pre-Algebra.
