WATC Finishes With 6 Gold Medals in Skills USA Competition

Wichita Area Technical College hosted high school and post secondary technical education students from across Kansas for the 2011 state Skills USA competition on Wednesday, April 27 & Thursday, April 28.  The competition was held at the National Center for Aviation Training and the Grove campus to compete in their technical fields of study .  The awards ceremony took place at Wichita State’s Hughes Metroplex on Friday, April 29.   All first place winners in the State of Kansas will compete in the SkillsUSA National Competion in Kansas City in June 2011.  WATC has 28 students competing in this year’s contest. WATC took 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.  WATC will be represented at the National competition in June by the 6 students who took gold in the state. The following WATC students participated and placed in the Skills USA competition:
