WATC President, Dr. Tony Kinkel, is presented with a scholarship by the Wichita Aero Club

The first monthly Wichita Aero Club luncheon of 2011 was moved from their usual location of the Wichita Airport Hilton to the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) this January 18. Approximately 200 guests were in attendance as the luncheon expanded to include a panel discussion featuring the new president of Wichita Area Technical College, Dr. Tony Kinkel, Wichita State University President Dr. Don Beggs, and National Institute of Aviation Research (NIAR) Executive Director, Dr. John Tomblin. A tour of the facility followed the presentation.

When asked what sets NCAT apart from other aviation training facilities, Dr. John Tomblin stated, “You can go directly from the basic roots of manufacturing all the way through to the service side of an aircraft. That makes this building quite unique.”

At the conclusion of the panel discussion, the Wichita Aero Club presented Dr. Tony Kinkel a check for $500 to be used as a scholarship to assist a student enrolled in an aviation program at WATC.
