Wichita tops for aviation manufacturing, magazine says

by amcfayden on August 17, 2010

Wichita was the top-ranked metro for aerospace and defense manufacturing in Business Facilities magazine’s 2010 Rankings Report.

The city ranked ahead of Huntsville, Ala., Seattle, Wash., Charleston, S.C., and Fort Worth, Texas.

The report said Wichita’s position was no surprise but that the results “indicate some rising competitors may give the Kansas city a run for its aircraft dollars in coming years.”

The report also mentioned the presence of the National Institute for Aviation Research and the development of the National Center for Aviation Training, which opened Monday.
