(WICHITA, KS) – Wichita Area Technical College’s (WATC) Adult Literacy program will be hosting its 20th annual GED graduation this Thursday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan complex. Approximately 500 Sedgwick County residents have successfully completed testing for the GED and are now eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony where they will receive their Kansas State High School Diploma. “Events such as this reaffirm that my choice to work in this field was a good one and that my living is not in vain,” stated Margaret Harris, Associate V.P for Adult Literacy. “It is an honor to be able to positively impact the lives of others and through them to impact exponential numbers!”

Lauren Werhan, Kansas’ newly crowned Miss Kansas, will be this year’s graduation speaker. Werhan is a Wichita native who was a Wichita State University student, majoring in strategic communications, with aspirations of being a Public Relations director of a Fortune 500 company someday.

(WICHITA, KS) – Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) is now enrolling for classes to be offered at the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) at 4004 N. Webb Rd. beginning August 16, 2010. Current hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday’s. Beginning August 1 the NCAT admission offices will be open until 6:00 p.m.

Programs offered at the NCAT are in the fields of Aviation and Manufacturing and include Aviation Maintenance Technology, Aviation Manufacturing, (including composites and aerostructures), Avionics, Nondestructive Testing, Fiber Optics and Data Cable Installation, Engineering Design Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Machining, and Welding. Aerospace Quality Control, a new program, will also begin this fall and new programs in Aerospace Coatings & Paint Technology, Electromechanical Systems, and Aviation Interiors will be offered beginning in January 2011.
