Wichita Area Technical College HLC Re-Accreditation

Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Review

Higher Learning Commission Mark of Affiliation

Wichita Area Technical College is preparing for re-accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC-NCA), which is scheduled for February 24-26, 2014.

The college began a thorough and comprehensive self-study in February 2012 to examine and analyze its processes and procedures and to provide evidence on five criteria for accreditation. The criteria are Mission, Integrity; Ethical and Responsible Conduct, Teaching and Learning; Quality Resources and Support, Teaching and Learning; Evaluation and Improvement of Resources and Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.

Preparing for our institutional re-accreditation requires the support and assistance from all programs and units on campus. Currently there are over 100 instructors, staff and administrative employees working through the self-study process. If you would like to participate, please contact Sheree Utash, WATC’s self-study coordinator to join in.

Accreditation is a process that evaluates quality and provides a road map for institutional improvements. It assures students that their academic programs meet nationally recognized standards. Accreditation is required for WATC to receive federal funds for student financial aid.
